What is Great Stuff Radio?
Great Stuff and Great Stuff Gospel feature an hour of traditional bluegrass music with a mix of new modern sounds along with classics from the bluegrass pioneers. You will also hear about upcoming bluegrass events, commentary from Rebecca as she picks a selection each week, and tunes from some the best bluegrass bands from the Ozarks.
Here's a little bit about Gene and Rebecca:
Gene, a life-long bluegrass fan, has been involved in the radio business since the early 1980’s. He began as an announcer at KTRI in Mansfield, where he hosted a daily bluegrass show before spending several years at KTTS in Springfield. There he put his cow milking upbringing to use as he filled in as needed on the farm broadcasts as well as other announcing duties. He was a popular host of the "Ozarks All-Night Show" for over two years while at the "Radio Ranch". Skinner then went into radio sales and has worked for several stations including KWTO, Branson Music Network, and currently is selling for KKOZ in Ava, Missouri. Gene has been married for almost twenty years to Nancy and has two daughters, Melissa and Rebecca.
Melissa likes all types of music including bluegrass but doesn’t take part in the radio broadcasts. She will soon be heading to college if Mom will be able to let go of her.
Rebecca, born on Christmas Day in 1991, began going to bluegrass festivals since she was five years old. A fixture at Starvy Creek Bluegrass Festivals each year, she has already formed her own opinions about how bluegrass music should sound. As a musician she can play piano, French horn, fiddle, mandolin, and is taking banjo lessons. Each week Rebecca picks out a song that she wants to hear and shares it with the listeners. She says, "I love real bluegrass music". Her favorite artists include Rhonda Vincent, IIIrd Tyme Out, and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver.
